Getting started out on the road can be a daunting prospect in itself, let alone knowing what to wear. So here are some suggestions of what kit you need to get you up and running.
- THE RIGHT RUNNING TRAINERS
Investing in a pair of specific running trainers will provide the support and cushioning that you need to get through the miles without injury. Your trainers are an investment that will last you miles and miles. Its best to go to a shop who know what they are selling to help you out. The shoes you need are based on what surface you will be running on. For example, if you plan on running through the country side, you might want to invest in trail shoes which will offer more stability and support. However, if you will mainly be pounding the pavements, then a standard pair of road running shoes should be fine.
2. RUNNING SOCKS
As tempting as it is to just put on any old socks, running socks are a must. Blisters can be a common problem for runners, but they can also be easily prevented if you wear running specific socks with their special sweat-wicking fabric.i usually get mine from TKMarx as they are a bit cheaper in there.
Ladies ladies, this one right here is so so important. This is one item you cannot go without. Please invest in some sports bras that fit properly in order to minimise injury to yourself.
When it comes to your upper body opt for technical running vests or t-shirts to wick away sweat and prevent chafing on your runs. There are loads of styles, shapes and designs out there so choose a couple of tees, short and long sleeved, that make you feel nice and comfortable.
Depending on where you live and the weather, your base layers are just as important.During the winter months, invest in good base layer to keep you warm.Opt for one with long sleeves to protect you from the elements and ensure its made from moisture wicking fabric to keep you at the optimum temperature during your runs.
6.LIGHTWEIGHT RUNNING JACKET
Be prepared for those moments when its bleak outside with some jacket protection. if its dark outside, opt for high-vis kit so you can be seen.
This isnt a must but still great to have so you can track your mileage and progress. i use a garmin forerunner which is very easy to use.
8.RUNNING ARM BAND
This is a must if you run with your phone for your music. An arm band will allow you to roam hands free.
I hope this helps. If i missed anything please feel free to leave a comment below.
HAPPY RUNNING :-).
